Abstract:
This article examines how the museum can serve as a mediating space between tourism, affective memory, and community, through two curatorial projects developed following field research in 2 Mai/Vama Veche and Amara. From an autoethnographic perspective that combines participatory observation, personal reflection, and engaged curating, the article examines how vacation, nostalgia, and the relationship between locals and tourists can become sources of anthropological knowledge and curatorial resources. It discusses concepts such as hospitality, collective memory, affective heritage, and reflexive cultural tourism, emphasizing the museum’s role in activating emotion and facilitating meaningful human encounters. The analyzed exhibitions are approached as case studies of affective museography, where everyday objects and personal stories play a central role in negotiating cultural identity. The article argues that the museum can become a critical and reparative space, capable of generating dialogue and fostering a sense of belonging through the activation of memory and affect.
