Abstract:

The cultural sector, as part of the global economy, was one of the most affected by the consequences of social distancing in the context of limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus. With the suspension of events, the cessation of activities and the disappearance of the public, some cultural institutions have harnessed the benefits of digital technology and the opportunity to promote them in social media, while others have remained faithful to the traditional activities and the physical public waiting for their work to resume. The way in which public museums in Romania have adapted, played at the level of Cluj-Napoca and Timișoara, has become the purpose of this study. During the emergency, museum events in the digital environment were highlighted, but their frequency and intensity were rather low, especially when referring to independent cultural workers in various alternative creative spaces that have been much more active in the virtual environment.
