In 2006, the Centre for Studies and Research in the Field of Culture (CSRFC) finalised the longitudinal analysis for the period 1998-2004, the objective of which was to emphasise the characteristics of the cultural life within the Romanian space, considering the cultural consumption, infrastructure and production. One of the main conclusions is the positive overall evolution in the infrastructure of the written culture, of the museum sector and performance institutions.
It was noticed that the infrastructure in the field is related to the cultural-consumption trend; for example, the decrease of the number of museums is followed by a decrease of the number of visitors, while the significant decrease of the cinema theatres is explained through the lack of intense attendance of cinema. However, we may conclude that the analysed period is characterised by a strong diversification of production and a trend of infrastructure development.
