Description
Mastering the Music Business is the first conference dedicated to independent artists, as well as to their teams: managers, booking agents, PR agents, tour managers etc.
The 2018 edition will continue to provide the participants numerous opportunities of networking with professionals in the music industry and its connected industries, which will bring presentations of new ideas and technologies, as well as success stories, in the first two days of the conference.
This year’s edition will include the themes related to the online distribution and streaming, debates on the theme of arts management, meetings with representatives of the main companies of collective management, success stories of artists of all generations. The conference will also stage showcases of Romanian and international bands that are at the beginning of their careers or want to present their new live shows to an audience made of professionals of the music industry (and other branches).
In the last edition, there were 50 Romanian and international speakers present, who presented case studies, presentations, debates and workshops. Among the speakers – besides the artist Smiley, who held the opening speech – there were: Damian Drăghici, Nicu Alifantis, Dan Byron, alongside the representatives of some of the most powerful global online platforms – Lucas Iliev (Music Gateway), Sam Taylor (TuneCore), Chris Cooke (CMU Insights) and others. This year’s edition will gather approximately 80 speakers, 25 of which invited from abroad. The opening speech for the 3rd edition of the conference will be held by Tudor Chirilă, the soloist of the Vama band, producer, composer and actor.
As a consequence of the presentation held by Carmen Croitoru (INCFC General Manager) and Anda Becuț Marinescu (INCFC Research Manager) within the 2017 edition, the participants in the conference of 2018 will benefit from a presentation with a very topical theme – related to the music consumption habits in the online environment. On the occasion of the Conference “Mastering the Music Business”, INCFC will invite the participants to contribute with information within a pilot research project aimed at the development of several statistical indicators and periodical measurements dedicated to the music industry.
Through this partnership and through the co-organisation of the third edition of the MMB conference, the National Institute for Cultural Research and Training (INCFC) supports the fostering of creative industries, thus supporting the independent artists. The programme of the event and more information will be available soon.
