Cultural Consumption and Participation among the Roma People [2010]



The study – carried out by the Centre for Studies and Research in the Field of Culture at the request of the National Roma Cultural Centre – had as objective the drawing-up of methodologies to identify and quantify dimensions of the cultural resources and cultural consumption within the Roma communities from 33 localities of the Ilfov county.

For this purpose, 120 interviews were conducted among the Roma people in all age categories and other 39 interviews with the representative of the local administration. The study focused on issues related to prospects, such as creating programmes for the traditional Roma crafts, creating new methods of production and distribution of the products, integrating the Roma cultural products into the international network, as well as to expectations related to the minority mass media.
