Description
On Wednesday, December 12th, 2018, the Cultural project “Heritage for the next century” was launched, an event organized by the National Institute for Cultural Research and Training at The Ark, in the presence of over 80 participants.
The project is meant to draw attention to an unfairly ignored resource for development: national heritage. Targeted especially towards young people, the project emphasizes the concern for heritage monuments, bringing to the public agenda the attitude towards vandalizing buildings with historical significance and the idea of involvement.
The INCFC initiative started with a research study that investigated the attitude of high school students towards the components of cultural heritage. Based on its results, a national awareness campaign has been built, which puts digital instruments of non-formal education in the forefront of young people.
The patrimoniu100.ro web platform offers an interactive manual and access to information on various heritage objectives. Another component of the project is the Patrimoniu100 digital mobile app (available for iOS and the Google Play Store) that uses augmented reality and geolocation.
Besides the digital instruments, the project also generated a series of mini-documentaries, signed by the director Ileana Szasz, which deals with the way in which the local communities have positively or negatively influenced the state of historical monuments throughout Romania.
The project “Heritage for the next century” was funded by the Government of Romania through the Ministry of Culture and National Identity within the program of projects, events and actions dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union (1918-2018) and the First World War, with the support of the county school inspectorates and the educational institutions involved in the project.
